16. THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCHIZOPHRENIA IN AN INDIVIDUAL

All people sustain different types of traumas in childhood and they cause different types of basic assumptions in the unconscious of individuals. These assumptions are not based on reality but on the misconception on the World and reality, caused by the trauma. Based on these basic assumptions, the individual builds an unconscious survival strategy, based on the trauma.

As an individual ”matures”, they have completed their survival strategy and start living their ”adulthood” whilst holding on to this trauma-based, subconscious strategy. Individuals do not really grow up to become adults, they shut themselves up to become adults.

This is why psychiatrists think that all people are mentally ill in one way or another, because that is what these individuals are, holding on to the basic assumptions caused by their traumas, based on which they have built their survival strategies.

Schizophrenia develops when something happens in an individual’s real life, in their actual reality, that conflicts with their trauma-based assumptions and the survival strategy they have assumed. This leads to a fragmentation of the individual’s mind.

The onset of delusions is one of its symptoms. They are formed as the individual holds on to their strategy even though reality has shown them that it is faulty. The individual has, however, been built in such a fashion that their survival strategy is the only thing they can rely on. As a result, their mind holds on to this strategy and distorts the reality.
