Prologue

This book was written completely without pre-ideation. All of this was debated while writing. I did not know anything of this before I wrote it.

The only thing I knew, which I had realised back in 2003, was that religion is a species-specific code of practice for humans. I tried to communicate this to my friend verbally, but my friend thought I was a headcase. In the spring of 2021, I got tired of their inability to understand the spoken word and wrote a comprehensive e-mail message, after which they were really sorry as they realised that my explanation is totally free from mythology or mysticality, and as a result, qualifies as a realistic answer, based on contemporary knowledge, to the question of meaning of religions; that is, an explanation to the question why the concept of religion exists in the world.

After this e-mail, which makes up the first chapter of this book, the idea began to grow in my mind. Not so that I would have first written what I plan to write and then written it down. No, I just started to ponder things relevant to this topic and then wrote them down while thinking. This can be referred to as a stream of consciousness in some cases, but not for me. I did not write down things that just popped into my head. I wrote clean deduction chains, verbal mathematics.

I hope you enjoy reading these things that no-one has completely comprehended before me.
